Corydalis bulbosa (L.) DC


Name: Corydalis bulbosa (L.) DC
syn. Corydalis cava L.

Croatian name: Šupaljka
English name: Hollowroot

A perennial plant, up to 40 cm tall. It grows from the bulb-like root that became hollow when older - hence the name "cava" - hollow.
The flowers are zygomorphic, usually lilac coloured but can be also white. The flowers are gathered into raceme. The fruit is capsula containing black, shiny seeds with an attachment - elaiosome, that serves as nutrient reservoir.

The plant is poisonous.
